I'm Back!
« on: August 20, 2003, 05:01:06 pm »
Finally got my house's cable connection sorted, so I will be around much more often now - but I am still at work alot

Here's some WIPs

I would have preferred to have had Major's Chimera done by now but I have been at work too much and I got bored with trying to get it finished, so i did a few other things in the time inbetween (Sorry major!)

And then there's this - my first klingon ship. Very much like a K'Tinga but I tried to make it more modern looking like a picture I had seen:

Smiley. No worries matey. Love the Ktinga though. I think it'll soon be time for me to try my hand at klingon ships myself seeing as my projects federation side is practically done (borg next I do believe). Anyway, glad to see your still around.

Great WIPs, Smiley!

BTW, that Klingon you're whipping up look a lot like the Klingon ship that was designed for "Enterprise" but due to time constraints was never "built" for the show. Instead, they went with a K'T'inga for the episode it was suppossed to debut in instead. (Which of course makes no sense chronologically)

The only picture I have seen of it appeared in the now defunct "Star Trek: The Magazine"

That's her!  Now THAT ship looks like a precursor to the larger and more modern K'T'inga.

I'm especially looking forward to you finishing this beauty!

smiley, that chimera rocks big time. Say, was wondering if u could build me a TNG deflector pod to cannon spec and color match it (or just use p81's textures) for it? it's a simple pod and pylons.

Thought that it was about time that I began the textures for my first Klingon vessel

Very sweet. What're you ising for the slight dirtying, there? Meaning those subtle surface-scratches under the main texturing?

Getting those little deatils is probably my biggest problem with texturing.

Thanks! I am glad that you like it! It is my first attempt at Klingon ships

The aztecy pattern? It's just a series of random shapes that go well together and are repeated in a pattern. I made a good one once and now I use the same one for all of my ships that need it, just chnaging the hue, saturation, brightness and contrast accordingly for each one.

Hehe, cheers Azel - the pics that you have posted have given me some ideas and I have been having a bit of a dig around a few sites for inspiration too as to what I can add to yours

Actually, I meant the noise pattern that covers the whole texture, but that's good to know, too. It looks like you've got some sort of criss-crossing scratches-and-dings pattern or something going on very faintly to keep it from looking too clean.

I think someone said it came from some Enterprise concept art that didn't make it to the show due to time constraints.
