Good things come to those who wait.

Would you rather have a patch NOW that still contains errors and bugs that may never be addressed, or wait a few measly days or a week to have something that's much more stable?

You're not paying for the patch, so don't complain.

All I want to know is what is the QA section of the test? I don't mind at all if is a little late, as long they get it right and fix the bug. I sure excited on the patch, can't hardly wait.

Yes I read it. What exactly makes you think that because you have more posts than me you are entitled to speak to me in that way? Show some respect.

The fact of the matter is companies have guideleines and rules to follow. If Activision QA finds enough bugs to warrant changes, then it means we wait another week or so for a more stable game. if they do not, then the patch is sound. Either way, we win.

guidelines and rules are for wusses

activision is only going through the QA process to cover their ass like everyone else, so if you're computer blows up and you take them to court, they can say its your fault because they tested it flawlessly.

along those lines, its standard, since that americans like to sue for everything, thats why you cant hardly install something with clicking something which "says" that  u read and agreed with the EULA. think about it.

That was a loser thing to say.  And before you start saying "yeah yeah, another Redshirt." .  I've re-registered under this user name. I've had more posts than you under my old user name.   And you know something? Galaxy Class is a well-respected member of the Star Trek Gaming community.   Giving him the shaft based on post count only proves your narrow-mindedness.

To Galaxy Class:  Whaaassssupp!?!?!?  I was wondering when you'd finally join us for a little SFC3.

Hey man, didn't recognize ya.

Yeah, I caved and bought SFC3 before the demo, but only because I got a killer deal. Good game so far, have yet to go online and get my butt kicked.

Best we wait till it is finished. Premature release causes problems, as we all have seen.

ROFLMAO, i still have to do the Single Player campaigns! D3 is so much fun that i can't live without it anymore. When i stopped playing for two weeks, i started to shake and tremble I just have to hug my luvly warbird once in a time

I really like d3 and i would, just as all others, really recommend you  join it. (Can I enlist you into a Romulan fleet ?)
I know d3 has its problems (of which many will be fixed in he patch), but most of the community just make it fun to play!

Oh yes we are paying for it.  Anybody care to speculate what the sales on this game would be like if Taldren had announced that they were not going to provide patch support after they released it?  I sure wouldn't have bought it.

I hear the whole system of patches defended on this board all the time.  It's the nature of the PC game industry, it's said.  All software comes out with some bugs.  You have to be patient.  You have to be understanding.  You have to cut a small company some slack.

Fine.  But part of that slack is an assurance that they will patch the game.  They will complete the product that we paid for when we purchased the box.  Patches are not some kind of favor to customers that they do out of the goodness of their hearts.  Patches are a fulfillment of the company's obligation to finish what they started.  It's not the best system in the world, but it's what we've got for PC games right now.

Taldren is not involved in this anymore...if it was up to them the patch would have already been released.

Activision is the one who is handling the patch now.

Ignoring the rudeness of this post. the patch has been tested by volunteer beta testers which Taldren hand picked to help with the patch which are in no way connected with the publisher nor are on the payroll. Since Activision is the publisher and has lat say on patch release as long as they officially support SFC3 their paid staff that does QA is now testing to make sure nothing new was broken. When it is to Activision satisfaction then the patch will be released to the public.

Maybe (and this is a big maybe) when Activision no longer officially supports SFC3 and there are still some things that need fixing or just wanted added Taldren can release "unofficial" patches like the did with previous versions.

Comprendae?

Who's paying us? You?

As for AVTI QA I'm guesing, but the QA guys are most likely college bound students who exhibit a strong desire to be game programmer/producer/artist/what-have-you getting paid the amazing sum of $8 an hour to basicly play a game over and over that in a lot of instances bores the hell out of them.

FWIW.

Best,

Probably a bunch of UC Irvine students, since Taldren is right next door. I went there myself a long time ago and actually played a version of this game on the computer departments servers....was this the forerunner to SFC? It was cool...three races, roms cloaked and were completely invisible. You played on the LAN only vs. other folks in the lab. I recall all the sounds of TOS were there...pretty cool........
