Ooooo... when you get this done, would you mind if I pulled this out-of-genre and retextured this as a Narn cruiser from Babylon 5?  This mesh'd make a KICK-BULLOCKs (because you can't say the vulgar for posterior) Narn!

Wow!!!!! As good as you are at texturing that's gonna look incredible! It looks like a Lyran Defiant equivalent or maybe a WYN PBB. Maybe I have the scale all wrong, but I picture it being compact and BAD!!!!

I personally see it as a TNG Lyran. Please make a whole fleet based on this ship. The TNG Lyran Fleet

Mmm... honestly its look reminds more to a Pirates's ship than to Lyrans's one.

I agree with Steelviper - looks like an X-Ship or TNG Lyran to me.

TNG Lyran, that's something that is needed!

Whichever way you go, I can't wait to see it skinned

I can see this ship as a Lyran one- a good one at that.

I like this ship very much-but if you ever start making an entire fleet based on 1 of your models. Please do it with your TNG Gorn. My favorite ship dude   Guess I am a lizard at heart. Do lizards have hearts?

My first response is Narn in Babylon 5.
and second though came to mine is an Orion Pirate ship...

the main reason is perhaps no Lyran ship (to date) has their "gun platforms" extruded...

Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful model no matter WHAT you texture it as.

extruded platforms could easily be justified on a TNG Lyran ship. Since none of the races live in isolation, to some extent they would start to incorporate some of the technology from other races ships.  It would look nice either way. Myself I would like to see it as Lyran cause just about any bucket a bolts can fill in for a pirate. That mesh is looking awesome at any rate. Cant go wrong iether way really.

Could work as Lyran.  Could also work as Gorn.  I think the best fit is Orion Pirate, though.

That's a VERY sweet-looking model.  It could easily work as a Lyran ship; the only question I have is scale.  It would work very nicely as a fighter or PF, but the thing's got a lot of great detailing that would be wasted on something so small.  It could be a frigate or destroyer, but I think you would need to reduce the size of the windows a little for that.  If you wanted it to be something larger - light cruiser size or larger - you'd really need to reduce the size of the windows, unless you really want four-deck-high windows on the front.

But it's an excellent design - I think the Lyran designs largely need improving anyway.  They're great designs, but they just have too little volume compared to the other empires' ships of the same class.  This is cool.
