After pulling out that 3 legged boot out of my mouth, I must apologize because I am not useing the HEAVY models loaded vol. 3

However (getright willing) I am taking steps to resolve that unlucky state of affairs.

So, I shall save myself further disgrace by CALLING THU to haul ass over here yesterday

and thank you again and again for all the wonderful additions to a game we all love (<--and all of that is true by the way)

Hey FireSoul!

Just dropping by to give you a thumbs up on your latest creations.

They are very nice looking, sir!

I really do hope Thu11s shows up soon and gives you permission to release 'em all!

Thank you. The only ship which was an extensive rework (so far) was the GDND. The other Gorns were easier, but still took a whiole to do right. The others were easy to do. Nonetheless, these variants did not exist and I felt I needed them.

Lyran Light Tactical Transport (LTT) with 1 pod.
Yes, that's a Klingon Pod. The LTT uses a purchased (and modified) Klingon pod.

Good stuff FireSoul. Hope Feral discovers this thread soon. Likely he will give you the endorsement and we can equip the SFC universe with these. BTW, anything happening on the Kzinti side of the border for Tugs yet? I'm using the Fleetdock 13 models for now in hopes we will have appropriate replacements. Thanks for all your efforts.

I guess the Kzinti tugs are next.. and last.

Let's see...

Feds: check.
Klingon: check.
Romulan: check.
Gorn: check.
ISC: check.
Lyran: check.
Hydran: check.

There are no Orion tugs.. so .. only the Kzinti/Mirak are left.
Design requirements:
1- must be in Taldren's style.
2- the MTT is a modified ZCL Model. It carries 1 pod.
3- The TGA/TGC is going to be a new design, carrying 2 pods from the MTT above.

So I guess I will start with creating the pod, and attaching it to the ZCL model (which will need some minor modifications.). That will create the ZMTT model.

Didn't Emerald Edge get you a good start on the Mirak MTT? I saw the one with the monster pod from his downloads. If you can clip or modify the pod you should be off and running. I wished I could lend a hand but I know my limitations. Texturing isn't something I have knowledge of.

If he did, I didn't see it. Too late now since I already have a good start on an MTT.
Hm. Let me start another thread.

Heh, yeah I think I have a Mirak tug up somewhere.  The pallet up front is just rediculous though (sometimes I dont' know what goes through my head).  The tug in question, assuming it's there, was a joint effort between Atticbat and myself.  Atticbat kitbashed a Taldren model and I did the pod, he adjusted the textures.  Very little (and poor) work on my part.  Anyhow, it might give a starting place, I 'll have to take a look at it.  Didn't know anyone even remembered those models (kinda wish they didn't  )

I'm kind of sneaky like that. I figured you had them uploaded somewhere and I found the experimental Kzinti tug there. Granted the pods are ludicrously large but the tug itself was a really neat design. FireSoul really needs to see it as it should be used. I liked you Lyran stuff so much I just couldn't wait for the official releases and went looking for them. I hope you don't mind.

I 'm flattered you asked, FireSoul!

To tel l you the truth, I'm not 100% sure on this one.

Being this is a modelers world (and I am certainly not one, just an admirer and collector), some may feel protective of their works. In this case, their websites usually have a statement regarind the usage of their models, posting pics, modifying them, etc. And if memory serves, www.feralyards.co.uk does not contain any such statement. With that in mind, it could be assumed Thu11s does not feel particularly protective of his models.

And since there are no financial factors involved or copyrights, etc. the only real concern is artistic ethics.

To sum this up: as long as you make sure to give credit to the original artist and you have "modified" a previous work (which you have done), I see no real probelm EXCEPT perhaps Thu11s might be miffed. But in his case, I think he would be rather flattered. Maybe he would even post them on his own site (if you ever get hold of him that is).

Well, that's my two cents.

Did you try frost works, P81 might know where he is.

I sent to his email first, now some weeks ago. No answer.

BTW, another modification I want to do upon his work is generation of other LODs, especially for the attrition units I am using in my mod. When I have 30 Hydran fighters swarming after me, the game slows to a crawl. This should help immensely.

Aiiight. Look.
Since I have been unable to reach Thu11s via email, or here in the forums, I'm gonna go ahead and use my modification of his material and release it within my mod. It will be the only way that I will be distributing this material unless I recieve a go-ahead to release the models individually. I find that an acceptable compromise, especially since:

a- it *IS* said that all this material really belongs to Taldren and Paramount..
b- I personally think that I have done good work that needs to be used.

I'm speaking for myself here but I doubt Thulls would have a problem with you doing this as:

1. Your spec file work is well respected
2. You are not a nut-case who is claiming you actually made the ships you are kitbashing from
3. Many folks have also attempted to inform Thulls of what was going on

If I were Thulls, I'd be honored to have my work put to the use it was intended for (SFB meets TMP)

So, how soon before the next update is released?

Qapla!

I'm glad you think so. Yes, I intend to give him 100% recognition for his models.. especially when I modify them in any way.

Honestly?
Definitely in a bit.. most definitely after SS2. I want to play on that server, and I know people will give me some feedback based on their play experiences.

As for models, I think I have models for everything. The only issue I have found so far are problems with high-quality only models. I have installed a lot of models that don't have LODs in them, and that causes some very jerky games. Now I've been improving some of Thu11s' attrition units that I use.
BIG DIFFERENCE! Having LOD done onto his Hydran fighters were especially benificial.

Work progresses.. I don't have enough time to do LODs on everything, but I will fix my own creations first after the attrition units.
