If I intend to make a space station with this it's going to take a hell of alot more than 10 or 12 verticies. That's why I was curious how I edit a given section, or beak the spline in the middle..ect.  





I didn't mean that the final spline would only have 10-12 verts,  I meant that the base spline would.  Once the spline is closed you can add/delete/move verts to get the final shape you want.  Unless you can perfectly place every single vert while creating the spline you are gonna need to edit it anyway, so I just throw down the rough shape while creating the spline.  Sorry for not explaining that better to start with.
