Yeah, the stars are a way of knocking people up or down a notch. I gave all my buds a full five stars. Depending on how many people rate you, the stars are averaged out. If you wanna know how many people have rated you, roll your mouse pointer over the stars, and you get that number. I've been diminished by those zealot far right hate mongers!!! Avenge me!

Classic, I have one.  Same number as the reponses I usually get.  Life always evens out I would guess.

Dude, that means you're liked! Think about it, 17 people at the off topic forum rated me and all I ended up with was a lousy 2 stars? That means I'm reviled!!!

Hehhe by the way thanks for the 5 star rating, you tipped the scales so now I'm a three. I can live with that. The majority of the right wingers are 2-3.

Oh, and here's a thought about the Connie thing: its accepted the TOS ship was called a Connie (even if it is a bit of revisionist history beginning with the Franz manual); the TMP ship was Enterprise-class, as is evidenced by movie details; but what about the new one they got in ST:IV? Could that be not an Enterprise-class, but something different?

What about that phrase "Connie refit"? Could that indicate a class seperate from "Enterprise class", and the ST IV ship was a member of this?

The Rating system is useless and unnessessary. I hadnt noticed it 'til I got a 5 from some cool person, my thanks to them.

Atra- With 21 rates at least you know youre not being ignored! Hell most of my questions here and fully half of my emails go completely unanswered.

Anduril - Your bridge model looks great!! I'd like to see more soon.

I gave you a 5 as you gave me permission for mirroring the D2 pack.. Thanks again.. so far it has been DL'd 86 times all from different IP's !!! not bad for 2 months...

on your thoughts on the connie issue, I tend to go by what's onscreen...

therefore :

NCC-1701 (TOS episodes) is a "Starship Class" Spaceship... reference it being called a spaceship by a crewmember in "The Cage" along the lines of .. Our new Spaceships are really fast.  The new Starship can go..(cut off by appearance of a woman).. Captain Christopher Pike was standing next to the crewmember...  this is followed up with the dedication plaque on the TOS Enterprise Bridge in the following 3 seasons...

NCC-1701 (TMP Refit) is a "Enterprise Class" as referenced to by the model maker and on screen evidence of the classification in ST : TMP, ST II: TWOK and ST III : TSFS...

NCC-1701-A (New or rechristened ship) referenced to in ST VI : TUC.. I conceed that since this is not the Original Enterprise and it was a NEW ship and because the classification (Enterprise class) most probably came from the ships fame... therefore, I accept the NCC-1701-A as a Constitution Class ship as seen in ST VI.....

Good points Athrahasis... I was just looking mostly at the ST II reference and TOS episodes when I started this mess... thanks for reminding me ot expand my mind....

Andurill... the multiple demensions thing you posted earlier in this thread... it reminds me of a book on the Vulcan Race I read a while back... the Vulcan school of logic considers this constantly.. they call it the IDIC decipline....

IDIC stands for "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations"

That was the IDIC Medallion that Spock was recieving at the beginning of ST : TMP

Actaully I think it may have some value. It may help keep the flame wars down a bit. Some people that are mad can at someone can rate them a 1. Hopefully then they won't have to launch a tirade in the forum then. I think that might be the idea of it.

Someone gave me a 5- but I am trying not to get to elated cause that means there is only 1 direction I can go.

I've resisted the urge to jump into the middle of this, or to attempt the Herculean task of correcting all of "Pestalence"'s spelling, but here's something I feel I can comment on:

IDIC stands for "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations"

And given the tenor of this discussion, it should be noted that the medallion's appearance (in "Is There in Truth No Beauty?") was a blatant product placement for Gene's new side business.  IDIC exists in canon purely because the Roddenberrys wanted to hawk jewelry to fans.  (And Nimoy was, IIRC, not happy about being made into a pitchman.)

Actually, no.  The jewelry piece that Spock was to receive for completing/achieving kolinahr was much larger and more elaborate, consisting of multiple segments of metal and red crystal, some with Vulcan script.  And the only thing that kolinahr and IDIC have in common is that they're both Vulcan philosophies.

If you're going to take an unpopular stand like this, be sure you have all of your facts straight.

I stand corrected on the medallian spock was recieving... I didn't look closely enough at it to notice the differences.. it is shaped similar to the IDIC medallian.. thanks

P.S. My spelling mistakes are due to me getting use to a new laptop PC and at the same time suffering from sleep depravation from Beta testing, monitoring 5 forums and RW work.... With that being said.. time for bed...

By the way, everybody in this thread who has 5 stars I made sure I gave it to them.

Yeah, you know the ST IV-VI Enterprise was a different beast altogether, because if you notice in ST VI you can see Scotty smiling as he observes...surprise...a dilithium matter/antimatter "heart" pumping away in engineering, exactly like the one on a Galaxy-class starship! Who are we kidding, it was probably the same set at Paramount. But before on the TMP Enterprise you did not have such a contraption, indicating the ST IV-VI Enterprise had a serious power systems upgrade, perhaps enough to name it no longer an "Enterprise class" but something  different, like "Connie Refit". Perhaps the USS Connie was the first to receive this upgrade.
