SFC3 - F1 View
« on: February 04, 2003, 06:49:33 pm »
Just installed SFC3 last night. Flew a couple of skirmishes & did one tutorial mission.
What happened to the F1 (overhead) view? Hitting F1 does nothing. F2 to F5 work fine. Didn't see this mentioned in the patch readme in the announcements forum.

This happened to me when I first installed the game.  Also, after a few missions, the crew voices completely disappeared.

I would do a complete uninstall then reinstall it.  I'm sure there are plenty of others on the boards who would have a better solution but that's what worked for me.

I have encountered the F1 bug, but not since the Beta patch, so perhaps there's hope.  In any case, you have two choices.  You can either quit the game and restart (and hope the problem fixes itself, which it usually does), or if you really need to get into F1 mode, you can hit the ESC key, go into the Options menu, and choose it there.  This probably wouldn't work on multiplayer - never tried using ESC in multi.

The voices bug happens to me when the game crashes.  Here is the easy fix:

Go to your sfc.ini file, open it with Notepad or Wordpad.  Find the value for "voices," and set it to "voices=3" (instead of "voices=0," which is what it seems to change to when you have certain kinds of crashes).  This will start the voices back up again, and you don't have to go through the tedious re-installing business.

Excellent, Robb.  I will definitely find that useful as I'm sure many others will.

Same weird F1 key issue here as it seemed to only happen to me when I installed SFC3? But after I go through the problem with my F1 key not providing me with teh top down view I usually quite and start a new game and the problem is gone. I have installed SFC 3 three times since I've had the game and it has happended everytime to me so it has to be some kind of goofy glitch that becomes rectified on it's own?
