Hm... I seem to be plagued
« on: February 05, 2003, 03:04:03 am »
As well as my Dynaverse connecting problem, now whenever I try to start up SFC3, it runs fine until I try to get to a mission screen... if that makes sense.  If I click "start single player skirmish" or select a tutorial, or click "begin new campaign" I get kicked out of SFC3.  If I reinstall the game I get a freebie where everything works, but as soon as I exit and start the game back up, the problem revisits

Any thoughts?

updated drivers? Direct X? System pec's? You may be low on memory, try turning off as much as possible. The bare minimums to run windows is explorer and systray but ISP and firewall will require a bit more. Its possible that could help.

I don't know if this would affect it, but something called WMI keeps giving me error reports.  I leave my computer running and go to class, come back and have to close down 10 of the warnings

Oh my system specs might help

1.7 ghz celeron
256 mb of ram
dx9
Geforce 2 MX 64 mb
Windows XP

Has anyone ever heard of this problem before?

Edit:  I believe I have updated drivers, I remember updating them.  But I don't know how to check or where to get new ones

Sorry about the double post

I admit, I sinned- I downloaded a cracked version of SFC3 to try it out.  But I ended up buying the actual game because the game intrigued me.  And because the cracked version was having problems anyway- little did I know, those same problems would haunt my legitimate copy.

As well, when I installed the cracked version it shafted my legitimate copy of SFC2, and it still doesn't run.  And there are a couple of other problems that may or may not be related.  The cracked game implanted an entry into the registry to tell the computer that it found a proper CD key.  When I bought the legit SFC3, I just band selected and deleted all the cracked files, and installed the legit game to that directory.  I think that the registry entries are bothering my computer- anyone know how I can fix this, short of reformatting?

WE are all sinners... (not the same sins necessarily)

But enough, Open regedit, and start looking for registry codes related to SFC3 or 2... and delete them. (usually in LOCAL MACHINE, Software or Current user, Software)

THAT IS assuming the crackd copy has no malicious contents embedded... ( such as a virus etc.)
