OP Patch 2.5.4.12 Problems
« on: August 04, 2003, 10:48:06 pm »

I am running into several problems with the patch for OP:

The first is that when I load the game I lose all keyboard functions.  I got around this by using the alternate icon (SCOP.exe I think its called).

The second problem is that when I click on the single player campaigns the game crashes.

A third problem is with carriers.  I know that this patch is supposed to fix a bug where the carriers lose their fighters.  I am still having this problem.  It said to purchase a slew of fighters only to find they are still back at the starbase enjoying R&R!

If anyone has some solutions our ideas on how to work around this problems please let me know.  I like many improvements of the new patch and wish to use it.

Thanks,

Nahodha

1. That's something with Win2K or XP, apparently, the opening movie screws up the keyboard... No fix. You found the workaround.

2. Delete all files under /metaasets/db/saved

3. Read the first paragraph on the Readme.txt file. It fixes fighters no appearing.

Make sure your shortcut is pointing to "C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\StarFleetOP.exe" assuming you have your game in the stock directory.

Delete any saved campaigns.

The first solution, for the shortcut, is supposed to fix this too.

That will fix the no keyboard issue, but the fighters issue is fixed by adding the installation directory for StarFleetOP.exe to the "Start In" box in the shortcut properties. Weird but true! (as noted by 3dot14, this info is in the readme.txt)

Thanks Bonk. You're right, of course. Sorry that I didn't explain that right.

Thanks to everyone who responed to my questions.  I have the game up and running.  I still haven't tried out the Dynaverse yet.  I have to figure out how to connect through my router.  I saw another thread about that and will attempt to configure my router (when I have time).
