Makotokat (my siamese) is in mourning today due to the passing on of his sister K-Puss from sever liver failure, she was just 8 years old. Makoto, who normally sleeps on my computer monitor whilst I am working, is searching for his sister and I must confess I myself have no compunction to work on anything. Both my wife and I are very saddened by the loss of such a lovely cat. To us cats are family, and every one is special. I know this is off-topic but this is the only place I post and to those who know me I must apologize as I take a "time out" and I will get back to several projects soon. Both Makoto and his younger sister Hera need my attention at this time.

I feel your pain sorry about your loss , I have 8 cats had 9 and 1 went missing ,Moungous was my 1st of the pack and my favorite i still feel kinda empty with out him around.

I know how you feel man. when I was a kid we had a Callico Cat that was named Callico (My sister wasn't very original with names), anyway this cat was the fattest cat on the block, I don't remember how much she weighed, but she was HUGE! She used to let other cats push her around even though she was bigger than they were, until one day, a black and white cat named Puttycat pushed her too far, and she kicked his ass! It was so funny to watch them fight cause one minute Puttycat was picking on her while she was backing away and the next he was backpeddling while she nailed a couple of times before he turned tail and ran with her chasing him. Before that fight whenever we heard a cat picking on Callico we would get the hose that had a precision spray nozzle, and we would nail the other cat without getting our own, after that fight, our cat ruled the block for several years. She was never a bully, she would beat down any cat who challenged her. She was a great cat, then one day she didn't come home, we looked everywhere and never found her. I think what happened was some kids were walking by and started petting her, she was the friendliest cat, seeing she did not have a collar, they took her home. I hope she had a happy life.

I feel your pain. I had a cat named Maximus, great little crazy black & white cat with a black mask patern over his face. Very energetic. I had to move into a cheaper place, and the new place would not take pets. I had to give him to one of my co-workers, who has since moved to California. I'll probably never see Maximus again. But even that does not compare to the death of what I'd consider a family member, and pets are definitely family members.

Thank you everyone. I have lost several cats over the years, but the pain is the same every time. K-Puss will be missed.

DAMN!! I have 5 cats right now...2 are little kittens that we're sponsoring until they are old enough to adopt out. They were foung under a house, and the shelter said they were too young and would have to be put to sleep. Well, they are just about ready to go now, so what did they know?

We had another one, an orange and white tabby...he was about 7 months old, just started getting the "urge"; he was almost home when he got hit...luckily the kids were already at school, since he was hit right near their bus stop. Cats are definitely a part of the family, and I know she will be missed. GBY and yours (including your 4 legged friends).

Sorry for your loss dude, my 2 dogs died coz of some inherited illnesses, one was a lung tumour I think, and the other had a heart attack, I cried both times

Ha, Rogue, calicos are my favorite too- I have one presently- I am hosting two-week-old kittens too... I'll never forget my first cat, a mean old calico- after a few years she started to get really friendly after she got older and her temper cooled off...

I used to have a cat for a year, her name was Sabrina, took care of her in 1994, back when I was really young... My only cat too, forgot what kinda cat she was, been so long. My condolences go out to you Makotokat. Hopefully the rest of your cats will do well, K-Puss definately should have lived a long healthy life...

Havng been through this sort of thing a few times myself over the years it never gets easier.

They aren't like family?they ARE family. Two legs or four, it doesn't matter. We love 'em all.

Sorry about your cat. When i was but a wee little sprout we had a German Shepherd and he died in my arms of ald age.

I know the feeling.

My cat Felix started looking for the other (Red), but within the hour we showed Felix that his little comerade Red was dead. After sniffling some Felix walked away and stopped searching. Maybe in time they will forget him, as luckely as their memory is shorter then ours. We keep being reminded of the loved ones that pass away, no matter if that's a human being, a dog, a ginneypig, a bird or a cat...

I can fully appreciate your sorrow. Last year I lost my wife of only 2 years to cancer. Then her scottie (dog) finally gave up and I had to put her to sleep as well.

Prior to that I had a cat, Mugsy, that would lay in my lap while I would be on the computer. At 17 1/2 he passed away. He is out in the back with Nessie (the scottie). Our animal friends are sometimes better friends to us than people.

About 3 years ago my wife (then fiance') went and picked up another Maine Coon cat to kind of fill in for Mugsy. Even though Mugsy had been gone for a couple of years and I wasn't too saddened by that loss, it was sure nice to have another cuddle kitty. Tiger really attached to Nessie and after both my wife and Ness were gone he really moped around here.

Then about 6 months ago this "puppy" came into my life. At that time he weighed about 20 pounds. Now he weighs in at about 60. Turns out he is probably a full blood Border Collie (black white and fuzzy). He was a stray puppy and was wandering the neighborhood. He is the best dog and it is so funny to see a 12 pound cat telling a 60 pound dog to mind.

They are best buds.
