FPF MEMBERS!!! Wanderer & Tracey!! BCG Update Version 2.0!!
« on: August 02, 2003, 01:43:39 am »
After some consideration of my original plan to use P81s old style textures first then release an updated version, I decided to scrap that idea entirely.  Instead I have used textures which are far more up to date.  I was planning on doing this anyway, and since I am using more and more ships that have the new style textures, I figured I would cut my work in half and just do my ships with them from now on.  This also means that I will be completely redesigning the Wilkerson, the current version will stay on my site for anyone who wants it, until I release the updated verison at which time the older ship will be mothballed, and taken out of circulation entirely.  Onto the BCG, I have rebuilt the ship from scratch, the textures are still not finished, but they will give you an idea of what she will look like.

Also, as before I am open to suggestions on this ship, I have ignored some suggestions in the previous post for now, I will be making other versions and will use them as I go.  So don't anyone flame me ro send me any nasty emails Ok?  Right now I am concentrating on this version, I have a one track mind so I can only focus my attention on one ship at a time.  So be patient.  Now here are the pics.......

Coming along very nicely indeed! The Secondary Hull looks much better too, larger and longer as you would expect it to be. Looking forward to the final version...

I think I have reached the limit on the length of the secondary hull, any longer and it look too far out of proportion to the rest of the ship, which is already fairly big.  All that is left to do is tweaking the textures, and making the addons for the four variants, and the break model as well, I should have all this done in about a week.

The Secondary Hull looks right now, I agree, I wouldn't make it any bigger either.

Holy missed threads, Batman!

Heya, R9CH...YES! YES! YES! This is exaclty what I was envisioning. The work looks great so far. I would agree that the secondary hull is at it's maximum length, you're right, any farther and it would become out of proportion. The only critique I would give at this point would be two-fold; The "neck" does indeed look too thin. Perhaps use the Belknap neck? I'll post a pick...And, again I would argue that the BC class probably wouldn't have the arboretum windows on the secondary hull, then again, that's just me. Hmmm...can't seem to upload pics today to my site...I can send you the model if you like, if you don't already have it. Anywho...

I can't wait to see what the chin mounts on the F and J look like.

Salute, sir!

Totally off-subject, but Die Hard and Likkerpig and Max Power (not pseudonames of the same person, are they? souns like soemthing the same guy would come up with- ideologies) were on when I just started coming around here, and then they were gone- what is the official sotry of them being booted? No flame wars please, I am just in the dark...

nice work on that ship there...

LOL, that's a loong story, Reverend. Suffice it to say, each was banned from Taldren for various reasons, many of us here felt unjustly, since many had not been banned for far worse (just look at the OT forum, sheesh). As I said, a long story. Besides, each of them still visit these forums from time to time... (Personally, I think they have all been "unofficially" pardoned, heheh...shhhh )

I agree with you about the neck, what I was thinking about doing was making the neck a little fatter, having it a tad wider when looking at the front angle, and making it a little longer, going back farther on the secondary hull when looking at  the side angle.  I don't want to make it any taller I think that would be too much.  I am going to do this and also try the Belknap neck and see which looks better.  As for the Arboretum windows, what I am going to is include an alternate texture for the secondary hull that does not have them.  Since you and I obviously aren't going to see eye to eye on that issue, making the alternate texture available will make us both happy.
