The Lyran party barge... I like it, hehe

EDIT- It could quite easily pass as the Lyran version of the Sphinx...

Hmm, it looks cool, but as a Lyran, me no likey, I just can't really picture it as a Lyran, I guess I'm to used to the normal Lyre-shaped Lyran ships of SFB and SFC (wonder where they got their name from) Cool ship as usual Azel but I wouldn't use as a Lyran. Just MO so don't take too much notice.

Hey, so it doesn't look like a Lyran (or any other race for that matter)

I say it's Egyptian myself.

Go Thunder Cats Go!

Ooops Wrong Sci-Fi show, lol

Yup, I was thinking of the Sphinx too when I saw this. So this is what a TNG Lyran ship looks like. COOL!

Well done Azel.

It's definitely an off-the-wall design.  I don't think I'd ever use it for the game itself, but there's no deny that it's interesting to look at!

I'll stick with the Feral Yards Lyrans...heheh.

So it's different... it still is a good modeling job, though I'll agree that the textures are... rather far out!

OK, step away from the psychedelic shrooms, man!   It's the Ga'uld, coming for us all! Quick, call SG-1!!

Now this is what you play when you've had one of those days, and you need a good escape. Good job!!

When I first saw it I thought that it needed to be more stretched out, with the back straightenned and the neck and head more out front. More windows too. Kitties like to look out the windows, you know. It's a cool ship though and ought to look real good once it's all lit up.

Maybe you should stick with the hellion brk.mod theme and have it look like "roadkill" LOL   That can be the 102nd use for a dead cat. Maybe you can give it a litter of Pfs?

OK. Enough messing with you. I think you've got a good idea with the direction you're going with this one. I can't wait to see the rest of the fleet. Good work, as always.

Whew, I sure am glad Azel just plops these out of his butt! If he had put any effort into these, I'd think one could begin to feel regretful over incessant jibings and taunts, however lighthearted. I thought it could very wel be a X- or TNG- Lyran. Nice work Azel!

Ok ok guys...I see that this is allittle too out there for some of you guys :P lol
Thanks for the vote of confedence on the model though \

To me lyran starships looked like cats in there top veiws...thats way mine does
As opposed to that "lyre shape"...my hellion horns are "lyre shaped"
I mean don't get me wrong...I love the Taldren concepts...but from SFB to SFC the
Lyrans went through a major overhull(as did many of the "Side" races...Hydran, ISC...and so forth)
and Thru11's are very cool...sorta like a post TMP (Enterprise B time period)
My ship is supposed to be for TNG-Post TNG..so I had to develope a new concept...luckily
This shape came to my mind in a dream...and all I had to do is refine it alittle

Glad you guys liked her

He knows we're having fun

Speaking of knocking them out pretty fast, I don't think he makes them quite the way you described, it's been a whole day and we haven't seen any litter mates. What's up with that? I want to see what the DN's gonna be like.

WHOAH!!  You definitely need to ease off the herbs man, the model itself looks great, but the textures need ALOT fewer colors.

Azel doesn't use herbs. He adds cinnamin to his coffee, but that is a spice. We just have to let Azel be Azel. He has tons of talent. This model is really striking. I like it as is but it could be toned down easily by unsaturated the colors a bit.  Myself I think it is a stretch as a Lyran but it could stand on its own.

Unusuality is a characteristic trait of true creativity... Rod, I see your point, again, some of us, like Rogue, could be easier on some of our most creative talents, lest we get stuck with 300 more 'different' versions or kitbashes of stock ships.

He is just too GOOD...
yes, granted, Azel's idea's are way out there, But I am forced to agree with reverend that, he is very prolific and overly creative, and don't forget, he is still a rookie at the game.  I mean how long has he been modelling 4-6 months?
He is still learning.  He's Got 2 things going for him: 1st-he's got vision, and 2-he's got alot of talent (really alot...remember his drawings from way back ) and he is seemingly not afraid to show it

So yes the textures are "loose" but the mesh is argueably flawless

Great job Azel

I agree totally that we should always be kind with our posts/responses. Real people with real feelings make these mods/models. As was pointed out, Azel's only been at this for a few short months. It's like listening to old Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, etc... The talent's there for anyone who wants to bother to see, even if maybe the technique hasn't quite gotten there yet. Also, he's using a $25.00 3D program. I don't know how to model. Maybe it's possible to do the same quality work with Milkshape as it is with Studio Max or Lightwave or Rhino, but I doubt it. Not everyone (maybe not anyone IMO) can texture like WZ. Of course, how many years has the "Undead One" been at it?

As far as Rogues comment is concerned. I think that it's a "cultural" thing. I don't believe he meant to offend. At least I hope not. It surely would be a shame to run someone like Azel off. Like you said, "We don't need 300 more of the same thing." Azels a New Yorker though, and they're really hard to get rid of.

Hey Azel. I think I figured out where you got the original texture from.

Yo yo...
Guys...just to set the record straight...I am not offended with anyone's post(s)
I like good jokes as well as the next...I new that the idea was reaching...the textures...well
I am still learning
as for wether you guys like the mesh(or that it is my representation of a Lyran vessel) or not
is ok with me...I am not upset...I can not please everyone you know...but I endeavor to try

Thanks for the support and comments...I do find them very useful

More to come

I like the mesh a lot. You have blended the polys together so they flow pretty well. Although it isnt quite what I would want for a ship I'd play, the fact that yours is so well put together makes me wonder what you have up your sleeve for your next project. I cant wait!

Sure- it is easy. You just need the software. I use PaintShop Pro 7 simply cause I cant afford PhotoShop. Keep in mind though that Smiley uses PS Pro and his textures rock.

I put together some versions of your ship. Top left is your original textures. Top right is after I used enhance color saturation.
I clicked Weak dial on left and checked skin tones on bottom. The saturation window is the bottom right pic.

The lower left pic is your ship after using the sepia effect which ages the textures. Its all just select and click for this stuff.

Sorry the pic so small. My pic host swithed servers and says if I get this message my computer hasn't updated my DNS tables.  To see the full size pic, join my club if not a member yet and the same pic is under photos. Then select the full size version.

Hope this helps some. Click the Yahoo link to see them.

btw enhance color saturation is under effects. You can do the effect to the entire ship as I did or select just portions (ie: the red areas or whatever you want) by using the magic wand on the tool bar on the left.
Saturation can be ajusted even finer under the colors tab.

Azel, I just checked out your Lyran model pack. Sweet designs man. Are you going to release your original Lyran textures?
Cause I like those even better.  Myself I'd like to see your gold textures with green engines.  Either way I want to get my hands on them.
