I heard somewhere that it is an Achilles-class.
Anybody read the book and know if it said so or not?

If you remember the last episode from ST:TNG Riker was in command of a ship with three nacelles.  I think it was the enterprize, but  i can't honestly remember, maybe that what ship he has command of???

I thought the Achillies class was non-canon.

Is it this Achillies you were referring to?

It was made for DS9: Dominion Wars

Yeah that was the Enterprise D preserved in all its glory except for being able to go at warp 20 and had 3 warp nacles lol. A bit rediculous but Riker was an Admiral then so it had nothing to do with him becoming a Captain in Nemesis. Essentialy anything out of so called real time can be considered changeable at a moments notice by the script writers, just like patch release dates j/k

It was the Enterprise D refit (Of course that was an alternate future and that particular Enterprise won't be refit now )

OHHH right ok.  Just something about changing the series and story lines at a moments notice.  I don't know if you have noticed, but since Star Trek First Contact (Which is on sunday afternoon on BBC 1, for all you peps in the UK!!!) the story writers, Rick Berman and the other guy, sorry i can't remember what his anem is, god thats really bad isn't it!  Anyway, since first contatct everything about star trek has changed, here are a few examples, i'm dure there are LOADS more, but these are the ones I find the most annoying!

1, Zefram Cocram was supposed to of devepoed the warp drive at jupiter station, or somewhere in the solar system anyway!, and at the supposed date of First Contact, according to the STar Trek time line, we had already built bases on the moon and mars.

2, According to The trek time line First contact with the klingons was made in 2218 and not as in "Broken Bow" the pilot episode from Enterpise about 2160.

3, Oringinaly the first Draft for the UFP was made in 2161, but if that is correct then in one year, the crew of the Enterprise (talking the new series here) make peace with the Vulcans, and make first contact with lots of other worlds.  And the way the Vulcans treat the humans in Enterprise they would never sign anything like the UFP treaties.  But yet they are supposed to be the first world that joined.

Anyway, even though I love star trek, and can't get enough of it, i think its really annoying that they change the history og the ST universe because it suits a particular script or makes good T.V.  Plus had anyone EVER heard that the Romulans settled on two planets?  Or that their was another race like the Romlunas before Nemisis????

Thats it

At the end of the Movie Star Trek X(Nemesis) Riker is said to be taking captain of the USS Titan, but that is all they really say about it in the movie.

Assumptions are being made that Titan will be a new class ship, or a ship of some new class.  The next iteration beyond Soverign class, I would guess.

Assumptions are also, this will be made into a new TV Series centered around Riker and Troi(Now married) and probably a new crew of interesting cast members.  Or same, made into the next Star Trek XI Movie.

I think it is a great idea for a next TV series if they could come up with some new ideas, not the same ideas rehashed 101 different ways.

I would think that if the Titan weren't another Sovereign, then it would make sense for it to be a new ship designed to fight the Scimitar.  That being said, the Titan is more than likely just an Ambassador.

the Titan was mentioned in the movie before they even saw the Scimitar... how can this thought of yours make sense?

Its simple, the Titan is a sovereign class starship.

Its high caliber, fast, powerful and full of energy, ideal for a new TV series... and theyre only going to get further critisism on any new design they create. the sovereign is a proven design and the fans like it... any other 'new' design would be considered cheese among fans everywhere. considered that they actually are planning a new series, otherwise im talking complete bullsh*t

What makes you think the fans don't like new designs? We liked the Sovereign, Prometheus, Defiant... and so on.

Every new series has featured a new ship design as it's focal point. Did the creators of TNG simply use the Constitutuion-Refit as the new Enterprise because everyone liked it? No, they went ahead with a totally new design, even though they could easily have based TNG immediately after the TMP era and used the Connie or Excelsior as the new ship.

Same for Voyager and Enterprise - no Daedalus there (and thank god... what an eyesore!).

Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't MIND the series to be based on a Sovereign, but it would be a little un-origional.
