SFC2 Patch
« on: July 17, 2003, 02:49:15 pm »
How come 2036 was the last patch for SFC2 when they are making another one for SFC2:OP???

EAW still has some really basic bugs and they were never fixed, so why dont they make a new patch for both games, bringing them to the same level.

2.0.3.3 was a disaster, but 2036 fixed that.....but not a lot more.

Why not make a patch for both games with the same (or similar) bug fixes and call them EAW and OP version 2100 and 2600 (respectively)??

Totally unofficial opinion here but OP is newer than EaW and with issues in SFC3 needing to be resolved as well as teh Black9 game it's just a matter of choices. In the case of OP there were far more problems than EaW that needed fixing. Taking all that into account OP got the nod for time / resourses needed to fix it.

A while back Taldren (Dave?) stated that 2036 was the last patch for EaW and that they were moving on. I suspect that 25410 is probably the final patch for OP. There is only one thing left on the OP to do list and that is SQL. Technically that is a server side only issue so you maybe looking at the final OP patch but no word yet if that is the case or not. Anyway I don't know if the EaW patch situation is written in stone but I suspect it is.

Personal Opinion to follow:

OP is superior than EAW in every respect. Anything EAW can do, OP can do better. The patches serve as an incentive to consolidate the player population under one title.

Beside, EAW has been patch quite throughly as far as PC games' patches go, to spend further time on it seems not worthwhile.

Not to mention OP is still available in stores.... I haven't seen EaW in over a year at any store.
