I've been to SFU, SFC3 files, Fleetdock 13, omega sector, and probably a few others and still no loknar for tos. I know someone made one, a really nice one, not too long ago. Anyone have it? Or know where it is downloadable? I assumed it was atras, as it was that quality level, but atra says he didn't make one. P81 can't find his. Anyone?

That definately is Ricks.

Backwards registry on the starboard nacelle gives it away. Not to mention the egg yolk bussards.....

Try here ; if I remember correctly, pataflafla did a re-texture of P81's locknar...might be what you are thinking of. Hope this helps.

If the "other modelers" had a quarter for every time someone hit them on the head with that statement.....

There are far better ships out there than the locknar in that style. However it is always good to be reminded a half assed job done done two years ago still beats what others are putting out now.

If 0nly we could all be as good as P81...but this is real life and we aren't; that doesn't necessarily mean we won't be either.

Ya never know, someone could come along who makes his stuff look like it was done by a 5 year with crayons.

To be fair, Rick's stuff is/was great, but many of his ships have been surpassed, the Enterprise for one - have you seen Khaliban's version? If it weren't for the jpeg artifacts littering the textures it could be used in a trek film. Or Pataflafla's retextures of P81's ships, or Anduril's or Lord Schtupp's TOS ships, there are so many who are making stuff that has surpassed what P81 did because he did it all about 2 years ago.

Ya know, P81 did some wonderful stuff. Many of his models are really excellent when viewed with the model viewer tool. But not necessarily when viewed 'in game'. Detail is fine until you start to get a lot of stairstep distortion with parallel lines. A little problem Rick's models tend towards. There are far too many under appreciated modelers out there who have made a countless hours of labor available to this community. I'd have to say my favorite authors are Atrahasis (his bit maps are to die for), Anduril and Ghost. Big A and Ghost made a so many models available for TOS fans that it is mind boggling. I have Tugs, light battle tugs, all three varieties of star bases and a multitude of unique ships for every race that wouldn't be there if it were not for them.

I'm grateful for the fine models Rick made. But I don't think they are the finest example for each hull type. My favorites of his were mostly colaberations he had with Atrahasis. And do we really need another 25 Meg Constitution or Excelsior? No, what we really need is a pristine TMP tug set, Klingon D5 and a few choice freighters. All this time and I've never seen a proper redo of the D5 mesh or the Fed Yamato BB for that matter.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to voice a big thanks to the my fav three of the modeling community. Ya, we miss Rick's handywork but think how discouraging it is to other people that made stuff that was as good and even set new standards in quality models. How about Wicked Zombie? Moonraker? Gee, anytime they did stuff you had a good idea it was really good. I think you get the idea by now.

There are a huge number of models available for both TOS and TMP, but relatively few for TNG and beyond :s - tis why I make TNG ships

The last stunning Loknar I remember seeing was the USS Phobos and it was TMP. I'm not sure if that ever got released however.

You are so right. I saw the digital poster for the Phobos and it looked just wonderful. As of a couple of weeks ago I couldn't find it. I don't think it has been made available but I don't keep tabs on that forum. If it is out it would make a prized addition.

Rogue, I just released a D-5...not saying it's anywhere near the quality of those mentioned, but it's pretty good IMHO.
