Almost ready for release (IMAGE HEAVY)

Well, spent the last 6 hours working on these two. !st is the Romulan Cabbage Class; 2nd is the USS YORKTOWN, a pre-TOS carrier.

The Cabbage:

The Yorktown:

With the Cabbage, what should I hp her as? A Rom cruiser in SFC has too much firepower to be accurate for this time period.

The Yorktown is coming in at approx. 7800 polies. I'm trying to shave some off without ruining the shape or textures, so any advice is welcome.

Thanx, guys!!
I plan on doing all the ships listed in my little pre-TOS chart I posted. I figured that would be a good way to build texturing and meshing skill...the further you go, the more shapes and details are needed. Next in line is the Klingon D-2...this time I'm leaving her gray.

Well, time to hand my wifes puter back to her...beside, my eyes hurt from all the work I did today. Once I get going, I hate stopping 'til I'm done.

If your sphere primitives are whole and not booleaned together with the rest of the mesh, that would save you some polys. Especially if they are geospheres.

The Yorktown looks to be your best work yet, I really like the aztec panelling, it really makes a ship look so much more real, maybe you could try adding that to the Cabbage? I think that's what's missing from it at the mo' oh well, keep up the good work.

Speaking of specularity...can anyone explain in plain terms (my brain is too fried ) how to do a specularity map? I see the stuff some people put out with it and they look so good. I have PSP7 and PS7, so I know I have the proper tools, just lack the knowledge.

Thanx for the compliments guys...I should be releasing them in the next day or so.

I don't think that SFCx supports specularity maps, only umm BC does I think.
To get the effect tho, i suppose you could make another layer in your software and draw the aztec on that layer and then fade it down to like 10% or something like that....Perhaps if you create more than one aztec layer and have them showing at different levels in your layering it would look cool?
