The Wilkerson Class Destroyer!! Release date: Tommorrow!!
« on: July 10, 2003, 09:27:23 pm »
I have finished the first version of the Wilkerson Class Destroyer, I have two designs of this ship.  One is a Torpedo version, and the other is a Drone version.  I also modified the hardpoints so the fire from the right places.  They are not perfect, but close enough.  The textures are not perfect, but as I improve in my texturing ability I'll redo them.  For now, I think it looks pretty good for a beginner.  The ship will be uploaded tommorrow in one zip file having bother versions.  Until then here is a pic of each ship to let you see the final version.

Looks good, and the textures are very good for a "beginner". One question...How do you get the spotlight effect on the registry? I use PSP7 and Photoshop7, but have never been able to figure that one out. I like this little ship and will be d/ling when available. Keep up the good work.

I modified existing textures, using Paint Shop Pro 6 and Photoshop 6.  The light on the registry was already there, I just cleaned it up a little bit.  It means alot to me that you approve of my effort.

Well done!  It'll make a nice addition to the fleet.

Whenever I need to do a spotlight I use the Effects->Illumination Effects->Lights tool, you can remove all but one of the lights then move it into position, adjust the width, length and brightness of it in relation to the background, if you greyscaled you're texture before then this can be used to make a spotlight with the aztec underneath preserved.

Edit: I use Paint Shop Pro 7, it screwed up the selection tool but everything else works like a dream, except registries, corel draw is much better for that.
