It didnt work, even if iuse the unchanged version (ie. original files), it still gives me the following error::

You can change the description
open "Assets\Strings\stings.txt"

Search for B-SHIELD-I , should be almost at the bottom of the file, change the

Shields provide protection against weapon fire and other hazards. This is the weakest of the shield generators, suitable for the smallest ships.

To your new description and save the file.

I put EVERYTHING back to normal, and now its giving me this error:

I cant help you with the error messages, i think we all see them with SFC3, well except me, i have the UK version & when my game crashes it just goes to the desktop without message.

May i suggest that you checkout TNZ from http://www.battleclinic.com or DW from http://www.sfc3files.com/sort.files?cat=943&ref=0

as i believe thy both have modifications to the files.
