Topic: Can someone explain Conquest mode (Read 1133 times)

I've been messing around in single player conquest mode and I can't really figure out what to do. It seems like I randomly aquire a new sector after I've cleaned out the enemy. I also noticed that I can buy a starbase but it would take forever to aquire one. Could someone explain the conquest mode better than the useless manual. Thx

You can acquire Hex'es (sectors) on the map by doing missions. (as you already know.)
If you manage to successfully purchase and place a base, (expensive procedure.) your chances of holding that sector in your favor increases, and you can resupply there.

You goal is to, through doing missions, turn ALL sectors on the map to your race's and hold them.

What 3dot said. Conquest mode is just that, conquer everything on the map. Takes forever, but seeing every single hex on the map in the color of your empire is quite a satisfying sight.
