I recently bought EAW over the web.  Installed, patched, and tried to enter cd key as on the case.  Says that it is the wrong code.  Since then I have tried various permutations of not patching, using caps, no caps, spaces, no spaces, dashes, no dashes.  Nothing has worked and the game is unplayable.  Did anyone else have this experience with EAW when they bought it and if so, what was the fix for it?  I remember a friend of mine who had this problem back when the game first came out and had to get a new cd key from Interplay, perhaps.  A long time ago, so my memory is not that good.  I have contacted Taldren and Interplay and am waiting to hear back from them, but it might be helpful if anyone remembers having this problem, what the fix was.  Thanks.

Interplay has just sent me a new cd key, so I will see if it works, but I doubt it since someone told me his to try and that failed as well.  Wish me luck.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me, also from EB.  The only difference is that I took my copy back, and got another, brought it home...and guess what, same thing!  (it was the only other copy in the store) If anyone at Activision or Taldren could have pity on us poor souls who want to play the game, please let us know. I hate to say this, but I did buy the game, is there a fix out there (hack) that will let you bypass the cd key?

Legally, I can't help you guys.
.. unfortunately, your CD-Key is necessary for online play so a pirated key found somewhere on the Net won't help either. I suggest you email someone authoritive at Interplay/Taldren?

Any chance you guys are enterring an "O"(letter O)  instead of a "0" (numeral zero)?
Or an I (letter i) for a 1 (numeral one)?  Or vice versa in either case?

Just a thought.

The EAW key is in the following format, XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX  where X = any letter or number.

If your key looks like this XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX where X = any letter or number you have an Orion Pirates CD key and will need to contact either the place you bought the game from for a replacement CD & key (insure that they check for the proper key before sending the replacement) or Interplay to have them send you a proper key.

well, here's the fix.  I sent a message to Interplay via its support page under the CD key issue option and they sent me a new key that works.  Done and done.  So if you are having this problem just go to the support page of interplay.com and they should take care of it for you.  Thank you Interplay.
