Activision has ruined a great game for me.
The ONLY decent marketing they ever did was to release the game near the movie, but in doing so they released a buggy program. They have not been willing to take the responsablity that goes with  this action and fix the problems.
I have been playing the SFC games for more than 2 years now on GSA. Now the numbers, on GSA, for a 8/9 month old game are as low as they are for an over 2 year old game. D3 is still going but it's numbers are much lower than 6 months ago. Cheating is so rampant on GSA it just kills the game for those who dont want to, even with the beta patch.
I know D3 is better about cheating than GSA, but I want to play the tactical game and running from Sov's in my BoP isnt difficult   to figure out tactically.
It has been mentioned, recently, that the last "offical" patch for EAW is 2015. I think it is time that an unofficial patch be released for SFC3. Something about KhoroMag comes to mind. Everyone here knows that the code has been written and QAed by at least one team.
I really like SFC3 with its refit ability and would like to test my designs and skill against someone I know isnt using Excel to an unfair advantage, or have my system hard freeze at the end of a match (not offten, but it still happens).

I know this may have been useless to say, but i wanted to vent, just like many of you.

Basically, yes.

There has been an 'unofficial' patch already  - the beta patch. You'll just have to wait some more - if you've really been around that long, you should be no stranger to waiting for patches.

It seems no one around here seems to understand the meaning of "it's done when it's done."

No, it's just that we don't have infinate patience and our interests have moved on and we're saying "have fun waiting guys, SFC is dead to me/us now so i'll/we'll be on my/our way"

Now it seems that you dont understand. That patch is done. Activision refuses to QA it, because that would cost them money on a game THEY failed to market well. Personally I dont believe they will ever test it. Hopefully they will release it, someday.

This contest of wills will end when Activ thinks there is nothing to lose, moneywise, any more.

Most likely they will make some backroom deal with someone in Taldren and allow patches to be released "unofficially" like EAW was. (meaning Activ will say "ok, we wouln't sue you for releasing this though the back door" ie, we dont care any more)

On an even more down side, it has been said that Taldren no longer wants to work on SFC stuff, so none of this may matter anyway. At that point the code should be released, but woul'nt. I would suggest that maybe it should be sold to someone else.

I think he MAY mean a beta v. 1.03, or something, that would be slightly higher than our current beta and solve a few more problems. That way, it would be LIKE having multiple patches, except we keep calling them beta.

Plus, then we can get all psycho-greek and call these GAMMA patches =P

ROFL...... Lost in the Delta Patch thanks to the Caretaker (Taldren),  Captain Sorok fires a full spead of magic photons into the array, thus destroying the caretaker, and stranding the USS I'manidiotwaitingforapatch for a hundred years, or until starfleet effectively reproduces marketing technology with another sentient organization.
