Ships I have been working on
« on: September 25, 2004, 08:08:56 pm »

I am still working on them adding in detail and am yet to even start the underside of the hulls properly...

But this is the reason the Wales isnt done yet....

Does everyone run into the same problems as me???    you start a ship.... you think that looks good.... you go online... an someone has posted a ship that looks mutch better than yours so you go back to the drawing board.. Ive done that allot recently....  :D

Oh well.... keep ya posted fellas  ;)

Yep, I definitely know the feeling...have stuff I started, then someone released one that I knew I couldn't do as well as, so I stopped...hmm...project ideas... :P Anyway, there's always gonna be one you see that you feel is better than what you're working on, but, if you're initially happy with your work, release it...you can always do a v.2. ;D

I like the boomer rang hull one. Very unique with those steps and all. Excellant lighting on it as well. As far as comparing yourelf to other modelers. We all tend to be are harshest critics. I like to do Hydrans cause I have no competition
If I could ever figure out how to do Fed hull textures I likely would do more Feds. I got TOS down I think but TNG era takes more fine detailing to pull it off.

I like the boomer rang as is (no offense meant by calling it that)   Whats funny is the real detailed ships that look awesome. In game that is mostly lost except for real close up screen shots. Most of the time playing is spent with the ships zoomed out.

the hidiki wannabe is lookin great. Not sure what I think of the other one. Looks a bit strange with the glowing phaser arrays (I think those are phaser arrays). Anyways, perhaps you ought to throw some of those failed designs out cuz some  may not suck as much as ya think.

Oh no.. you definitely aren't the only one with this happening.  I've worked with this in the past and came up with a simple solution.  If I'm about to release something and someone releases the same (almost) ship just before I do.. I wait a few weeks to release it until the buzz over the other ship settles down and the one I worked on can be seen without the first ship overshadowing it.  :)
..ooOOoo..totally useless information..ooOOoo..
