Looking for tugs
« on: June 04, 2003, 08:16:35 am »
Can someone please tell me where I can find some tugs for SFC2? I need them for FireSouls SFC:OP Plus Refit Shiplist.

I'm especially looking for Federation tugs in TMP style: an empty one, one with one pod, one with two pods and one with three pods.  By the way I already have the ones from SFC2 War Refit Spacedock. http://members.fortunecity.com/sfcspacedock/index.htm

Thanks Starforce2, but I already know of these ones. The ones by Lord Schtupp's models are great but TOS instead of TMP style that I'm looking for.

Atrahasis did a TMP tanker, not based on the connie but on the Endeavour, a ship from one of those SF recognition manuals, it has nacelles that look like highlighters and the rest of the ship is a cross between TOS and TMP connies. The tug version was called the Keppler, it had one version empty, one with 1 pod and one with 2. I don't have it anymore and Atras site is down and he's left for good so you'll have to get it off someone else. Sorry.

Quite a while ago now, I think he got sick of people ripping on his models so he just forgot about it. Then he  ended up on the SFCIII boards, but they banned him coz he kept on making jokes with P81 at the expense of Don Dawson (who should be put in a psychiatric home IMO) oh and he gave people constructive criticism (they will remain anonymous) on their models, they didn't like it coz it wasn't mindless praise so they started and arguement with him which almost became a flame war with a load of morons flaming Atra. Since then I've spoken to him once on MSN for about 5 minutes, that was several months ago. The most annoying thing is he was about to release some kickass stuff when he quit.

Fleet dock 13 did some phase 2 tugs which have the Classic primary hull but with up graded engines thats as close as your going to get to A TMP tug until some one decides that they want to make one for the game. You  can always ask nicely and maybe some one will be interested.  Take care and be well

This is a fine example of Moonraker's craftsmanship.

This is Moonraker's fine Excelsior style 'tug'. Its been a long time since I last d/l this. The file contains at least 3 versions:

1) Two pods
2) Four pods
3) pallet set

I myself, only use the 'pallet' set.

This 'tug' is available in Chris Jones' TMP Mod or may be d/l here:

Let me know if you have had any success. I too have been looking for models for the tugs that would be accurate.

"pallet set" sounds interesting. What does that look like KF?

There is a tug from the DS9 episode Sacrifice of Angels (I think) that looks interesting. It's towing a Federation ship in the episode. It's a kitbash of a few Klingon ship parts with some other scrap junk that was laying around. It's on Bernd Schnieder's excellent Ex-Astris Scientia website.

The models at the SFC2 War Refit Spacedock are, if I remember correctly, the Fleetdock13 phase 2 models with some new textures. I adapted them a little, for my own use: removed those sensor dishes hanging below the ship.

However when going through some old downloads on my computer I found some tugs I  downloaded a while ago but have not used since. It contained a Federation two-pod tug, four Hydran tugs and a Lyran tug. However I don't know who created them. I believe they cam from some pack with tugs.

For your information.

At the moment I have the following tug/transport models:
- Federation battle tug by Michael Malin (SFC1), converted to SFC2 by Anduril, retextured by John Stone (SFC2 War Refit Spacedock)
- Federation fleet transport tug (1 pod) by Ghost, retextured by John (SFC2 War Refit Spacedock) (I removed the sensor dish myself)
- Federation USS Newton freighter (2 and 1 pod version) by WickedZombie, registries by Paperboy (I created a 3 pod version from the 2 pod version)
- Federation Excelsior style freighter (4 pods) by Moonraker
- Klingon D6/D7 tug by Ghost
- Romulan KR tug by Ghost
- Romulan tug by SBLoyd
- Romulan freight Eagle by Cleeve and Ghost (HPs by Anduril)  (and a retextured version by John Stone)
- Hydran tug (4 versions) by ???
- Lyran tug by ???
- Mirak tug by ???
Let me know I you want any. Although for the ones I addapted I first will have to check with their original modellers.

The only Lyran and Hydran tugs I know of are Thu11s' freighters, he also made some Gorn freighters, all are TMP and very kickass

No the ones I have don't seem to be by Thu11s. At least they are not the ones he has at the Feral Yards.
The ones I have are based on the original Taldren models.

Thu11s' ones are Taldren kitbashes, but the only other person I know of who ever did Lyran and Hydran models was Lord Delekhan, who is no longer with us.
