Ok, I'm also part of an online community called "Football Pro" (.http://www.fbpro.net)    Its an old Football game that was very popular several years ago.  The Company Sierra use to make the game but discontinued it 4 years ago, but their are many former gamers in the community that still play this old yet grand game (myself included).  Anyways, the community was so desperate to find a way to play others online that they found this site (http://www.kali.net) to play the game still head to head.

I'm not sure, but I don't think SFC1 is able to play on GS (I Might be wrong on that, I haven't tried it).  But from my understanding that Interplay doesn't have support for SFC1 anymore right?  What about asking the guys at Kali to support SFC1?  If it worked for Football Pro, why not SFC1?

Actually you can play SFC1 online on gsa but it requires that you download a registry fix.
you need to upgrade sfc1 to version 1.3 and then doverwrite your shiplist file with a downloaded 1.
for the xp users, sfc1 needs to be ran in win/me/98/95 compatibily mode in order for you to play online.

I didn't know that, but thanks for the info.  But regardless, if/when Taldren/Activision/Gamespy cuts support for SFC1, shouldn't Kali be considered as an option to keep the multiplayer gaming going?

Heck, if we contacted the guys as Kali, maybe they could support SFC2 or even SFC3 too when Taldren finally cuts support for those games.  You know, I seriously doubt anyone is going to make an SFB style game anymore because all these companies are focusing on TNG type games and even then, Star Trek games in general are just not doing well now (thanks B & B).

I think SFC1 would work with kali perfectly. Kali is designed to work with most TCP games, and jsut about all IPX games. (tunnelling IPX over IP). Setting SFC1 to use IPX would almost certainly garantee success.

PS. I used to play descent and descent2 a lot.

Just so everyone knows,  All SFC series will work on kali. All you do is set it up as a custom game. I've been playing all the Star Trek game on Kali since the old SFA days. Kali is currently going threw a rebirth so it will get even better.

Hey KilledKenny, I installed the trial version of Kali and I went to room #460 for Star Trek gaming, but no body replyed to my hails you might say   .  I aslo reinstalled SFC1 (Gold version) but I didn't install Mplayer.  Is it nessessary to install MPlayer if you want to play SFC1?  Also, the version I have for SFC1 is 1.02.01 or something like that, I don't beleive it is 1.03 like suggested above.  Is it nessessary to have that?

Any info guys would be most apprecated.

P.S.  Some good news about my models too.  Although I haven't released any yet (I"m still working on them) but not only do my models work in SFC2 and OP, but they work in SFC1 aswell.

Hey Magnum357, some of the people might have been away from there comp. It usually says the persons name then an away message when you join the server. As for game vers only requirment is that the person your playing with have the same ver as you.(both people must have 1.03 or 1.02.01 in order to connect to each other)
As for Mplayer, you don't need to install it in order to play. Hope that helps some.

Ya, it helps.  I was their yesterday, but I guess I didn't wait around long enough for a reply.  Good news though, apparently Gamespy still supports SFC1 multiplayer.  I got some help by the guys on GSA and was able to play my first ever SFB style game against someone else!  It was a blast!    I plan to stay at GSA with SFC1 but I'm still going to regester Kali in a couple of days because I really think its great to see some of my old games that can still be played over the net when I thought support for them was history.  Kali is really awsome and I'm definitly going to stick with it.

Besides, sooner or later GSA will probably cut support to SFC1 and I will still need Kali to play SFC1.
